Christmas lights –
low clouds
hide the stars

clouds move on
leaving stars
in their wake

night in the city –
grateful
for a few stars

star-filled sky
stayed in the country
when I moved

full moon –
only the brightest stars
visible

rural night sky –
“My God…
it’s full of stars.”

no Perseids yet —
just the Milky Way
and a million stars

lightning reaches back
from Missouri —
above me, stars

autumn sunset glows
on narrow river –
fade to stars
