the freezer –
tempers heat

rural highway
at sunset –
geese remain aloft

gust front
now we wait
for the storm

white kitten
in my arms
playing vampire

early autumn –
seeing my breath
as I chide a possum

pet goods store –
her pit bull is
thrilled to meet me

freezing rain –
possum investigates
back porch

on both sides
of midnight
fireworks

gray morning –
grandfather clocks
chime in a round

Christmas lights –
low clouds
hide the stars
