raccoon family
explores stuff on porch –
quiet otherwise

thunderstorm
just enough to make
my cat hide

the bridge
that’s been in the news –
there and back

afternoon of
activities planned –
rain

errands –
lightning forks
across the sky

new Star Wars –
souvenir popcorn tubs
abandoned

home after midnight –
raccoon ahead of me
on the sidewalk

storms dive south
much-needed rain
goes with them

spring dawn –
bloody-minded chirping
rises

Mother’s Day –
she can’t
read her cards
