bright cloudy morning –
squirrel chatters
while eating bird seed

late night –
cat meyawns
at me

bread and cheese –
north wind howls
in the dark

warm leap day –
cars without mufflers
out in force

homebound –
weather advisory
plus a few flurries

big truck goes by
hollow silence
follows

waiting for a friend –
lone loud insect
keeps me company
